QE2 Activity Centre has been providing activity opportunities for children and adults with disabilities since 1978. In that time thousands of people with additional needs have been able to participate in activities including canoeing, kayaking, climbing, archery, ropes course and motorboat trips.
One of the many things that makes QE2 Activity Centre special is the variety of services on offer. Some people come year after year for holidays, others come week after week for day services, activity sessions or clubs. The Centre aims to have activities that are challenging but achievable for everyone who visits.
Building for the future
Over its lifetime QE2 Activity Centre has changed a great deal. The core values have remained the same but the outside world has changed and QE2 has had to alter to keep up. New facilities have been developed, new activities added, new ways of using the Centre created.
Now it’s time for the Next Big Thing! QE2 Activity Centre is embarking on an ambitious plan to raise loadsamoney to build a new day centre.
As many people will know from the reading the local newspapers there are big changes in the way day services for adults with learning disabilities are delivered. QE2 Activity Centre is a well established provider of day services and believes it is well placed to provide services in the future. To do this most effectively the Centre needs a purpose built day service facility, including large and small group work spaces plus a sensory room, kitchen and toilets.
